Three ways to support the aging healthcare workforce
In addition to hiring diverse staff across all ages, consider these three strategies for engaging your older workers while supporting an inclusive culture that meets their needs and respects their contributions.
1-Identify the needs of older employees
Older employees are a diverse group, with varying needs and interests. Some might want to use their skills or experience to take on a mentor role or help train others. Others might be looking for something more physically demanding, and less desk based. Whatever their needs, you need to find out what they are – and then find ways to meet them. 2-Prioritize dynamic training
Many organizations have a high percentage of older workers, often referred to as Boomers or the “older worker generation.” According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Boomers will comprise nearly one-third of the workforce by 2024. Moreover, this segment is staying in the workforce longer than previous generations. As a result, workplaces are becoming more age-diverse and are striving to make adjustments with employee needs in mind.
To accommodate these needs, businesses are providing more telecommuting opportunities, training programs, workflow enhancements, and other services tailored specifically for older workers that can ease their transition into retirement.

3-Utilize innovative technology
We are seeing the presence of artificial intelligence, data-driven approach, and telemedicine, which are expected to change the way people receive medical treatment and how doctors work in the coming years. Other trends in the health sector, like the increased focus on preventative care and the increased adoption of wearable devices, are expected to positively impact the quality of life of people around the world.
